TrueWorld Maps is an app for comparing the true size of countries. Pick up any country, drag it anywhere on a world map and compare it with another.
The app is made by Ment Apps Ltd. It is free on Google Play, the App Store and the Amazon Appstore.
What the app does
The most widely used world map, the Mercator projection, makes places look bigger the farther they are from the equator. TrueWorld Maps moves each country across the globe rather than across the flat map, so a country grows or shrinks as it moves and is always drawn at the right size for where it sits. For each country, the app also shows its area, its population and a short summary from Wikipedia.

We check every fact and figure in our articles against a primary or reference source, and list the main sources at the end of each article. Numbers about how much Mercator inflates countries are calculated from Natural Earth country outlines; the article on the true size of countries explains how.
